Maximum Torque per Ampere Strategy in IPM Drives for Electric Vehicles

Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) are known for their type whose magnets located on the rotor surface and this motor type, which is called mounted (SPM), generates torque due to rotor. Based equations, since there only q axis current value of magnetic flux linkage, d kept at 0 maximized controlled, I_d = control technique. However, reluctance generated in interior permanent (IPM) inductance difference caused by saliency rotors controlling correctly, efficiency increases. For reason, maximum per ampere (MTPA) strategy applied order perform efficiently IPMs. In study, between values was observed simulating IPMs with MTPA instead conventionally used As a result simulations, using conventional vector technique drivers electric vehicle applications increases system extends drive range capacity battery more efficiently.
